Treatment for Male Fertility Problems

Treating Various Andrology Problems
Not being able to conceive a child can be both frustrating and stressful. According to an article by Mayo Clinic, approximately 15% of all couples have to face such frustration due to a lack of fertility, despite having regular unprotected sex for over a year. In about half these cases, male infertility problems may be the culprit. Thankfully, there are various andrology services available that aim to overcome problems related to the male reproductive system. Andrology services help males suffering from a range of problems, including circumcision, orchidopexy, phimosis, prostate cancer, orchitis, ED and treatment for male fertility problems.

Treatment Options for Male Fertility Problems

There are various treatments for male fertility problems that can prove to be beneficial, such as:

• Surgery: There are certain problems related to fertility in males that can be easily corrected via surgery. Others may be more intricate and may pose major risks. A varicocele or circumcision can often be surgically corrected without posing any major complications or health risks. Surgery also makes use of various sperm retrieval techniques in cases where there is no sperm present in the ejaculate. In such cases, the sperm can often be retrieved directly from the testicles or epididymis so that sexual health can be restored.

• Assisted reproductive technology (ART): Most ART treatments can be performed as per the wishes of the patient. Sperm can be obtained through various methods, including surgical extraction, normal ejaculation or with the help of donors, depending on the case. The obtained sperm is then inserted into the female genital tract or may even be used to perform intracytoplasmic sperm injection or in vitro fertilization.

• Medications and hormone treatment: In certain men, there may be problems with the way the body uses hormones. There could be an excess or deficit of a specific hormone that is vital for sperm production, such as testosterone. In such cases, your doctor may advice you on specific medication and food in order to restore hormonal balance and boost the testosterone levels. There are various hormone replacement treatments that can also be performed to achieve the same results.

• Treatment for sexual intercourse problems: Among the top sexual intercourse problems are erectile dysfunction and premature ejaculation. Counselling or specific drugs may prove to be beneficial in such cases.

Apart from the above treatments for male fertility problems, there is a course for antibiotic treatment that can help reduce or cure any infection in the reproductive tract.
